Maramon convention ( & Great Lent )

‘As we enter the season of Great Lent, it’s a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal for many Christians around the world, particularly in the Eastern Orthodox tradition.

During Great Lent, believers engage in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as a means of drawing closer to God, purifying the soul, and preparing spiritually for the celebration of Easter. It’s a period of self-examination and self-discipline, where individuals strive to deepen their relationship with God and grow in faith.

In the midst of the fasting and the abstaining, it’s important to remember the true purpose behind these practices. It’s not simply about denying ourselves certain foods or pleasures, but about redirecting our focus towards the divine, cultivating virtues such as humility, compassion, and forgiveness, and aligning our lives more closely with the teachings of Christ.

As we journey through Great Lent, let us take this opportunity to examine our hearts, to seek forgiveness for our shortcomings, and to strive for a deeper understanding of God’s love and mercy. Let us also remember those who are less fortunate, and seek to extend a helping hand to those in need, practicing generosity and compassion towards all.

May this season of Great Lent be a time of spiritual growth, transformation, and renewal for each of us, as we prepare our hearts to joyfully celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Easter Sunday.’
